Public Service Announcement Poster
The subject I chose for this project was animal cruelty/abuse and I chose a picture of a dog with a sad face for the imagery. I edited the picture of the dog by using a black and white adjustment layer to make the background black and white but keep the dog in color so it would be the focus of the poster. I also used the brightness/contrast adjustment layer to darken the background and keep the dog in brighter lighting to make it stand out more. I decided to add a picture of a man raising his hand to hit the dog in the eyes of the dog, almost as a reflection. The imagery, message, and statistical quote targets the audience, which is anyone who owns a pet, by bringing their attention to how many pets are a
abused and don’t have safe environments to live in. It makes them realize that all animals need love and don’t deserve to be abused. One difficulty I had with this project was getting an image to place in the dogs eyes and getting it to stand out enough to be noticeable. One success I had with this project was using adjustment layers to get the dog to stand out and be the focus of the poster.
